Summer's End - Van Nuys, CA, 2008 - J. Waggle

Shadow Woman

  1. Everyone who knows me knows
  2. I have loved you
  3. Except you
  4. You are a fool
  5. And I am a mess
  6. But I turn and face the onslaught
  7. I brave the orange and yellow flames
  8. While you cower in my shadow
  9. And whisper in my ear
  10. "Give up"
  11. You don't know me very well
  12. I reach out to the universe and I touch the sun
  13. The cleansing fire cauterizes my many wounds
  14. I am scarred but I am whole again
  15. You are scared of me and I don't blame you
  16. But this is no time to run away
  17. I gather you up in my arms
  18. As you start to fall apart
  19. Your smile, your eyes, your lips
  20. Things I used to count on
  21. They start to lose their color and flatten against my hand
  22. You have moved on
  23. Whatever terrible secret that lingered inside this vessel is
  24. Crawling into fresh skin
  25. Hiding behind another rock
  26. Trying to draw new blood from an old stone
  27. There is no need
  28. Whatever fear you face is better than the pain
  29. You will create and perpetuate
  30. Stop.
  31. I call to you gently
  32. Stop.
  33. Learn to love
  34. Don't feed your fear
